2019 is here, and most musicians have already made New Year’s resolutions. In order for you to actually succeed in making those resolutions reality, it helps to develop incremental steps to success.
Here are 10 habits that will put you on the path accomplishing your music and life goals:
- Get Organized.
Add your tasks to online calendars, Evernote for brainstorming, and have backup storage like Dropbox. These only take a few minutes to install and set up, and will save you countless hours of frustration.
- Be a Volunteer.
You can volunteer online or offline. When you give to others, you get so much positivity back in return. It feels great.
- Be a Mentor. Be an inspiration.
Sharing the knowledge and experience you have comes back to benefit and enrich you in so many ways. You have talents. You have skills. Share them and make a difference.
- Exercise.
Make exercise and eating well routines. You know this already. Try scheduling exercise in at the same time daily until it becomes automatic.
- Travel.
Travel anywhere outside your normal comfort zone. Traveling widens the horizons of your mind and helps your creative juices flow. You are impacted by everything around you, and the new experiences you have will naturally be reflected in your music. Plus, it’s fun!
- Avoid Procrastination.
When you find yourself procrastinating, take immediate action every time. Don’t allow yourself to delay. It always seems worse than it really is.
- Only accept the Positive.
Practice gratitude. Avoid negativity. Avoid negative and toxic people, or at least spend as much time away from them as possible. Negativity and negative personalities will drain your energy until you are exhausted. Positive attitudes will replenish yours and fill you with the understanding that everything is possible and achievable!
- Chart Out Your Goals.
Make a complete 12-month action plan for your music goals. Break it down month by month. It doesn’t matter if you have to modify the plan later; just by having the action plan, you are on the path to achieving your dreams.
- Dream and Do. Action.
You have one life and a limited number of hours on this planet. Don’t let anybody slow you down or discourage you. The naysayers never believe anything until it’s been achieved. Believe in yourself and take measurable steps to achieve your goals.
- Learn and Grow and Experiment.
The music industry is rapidly changing, and if you slate in time every week to browse the latest trends or explore something you’ve been curious about, by the end of the year you will have a lot of new knowledge under your belt. Stretch your knowledge, increase your skills, try new genres and experiment. A flexible mind is a creative mind, and the more flexible your mind, the more room for creativity.
By seriously adopting these 10 items, you will be well-positioned to succeed at any of your goals and dreams. Go ahead, make 2019 your best year ever!
