The award celebrates Skonnie Music’s groundbreaking approach to symphonic metal, which seamlessly blends Sal Moretta’s neoclassical guitar mastery with Connie Yerbic’s distinctive vocals and innovative flute arrangements. Skonnie Music’s distinctive sound emerges from the creative partnership between two musicians with diverse backgrounds. Connie Yerbic contributes her haunting lyrics, vocals and the unexpected classical flute training from Salzburg, Austria, combined with her experience touring and her innovative approach to incorporating flute into modern metal compositions.

Sal Moretta brings his extensive classical and electric guitar expertise, having been influenced by legends like Yngwie Malmsteen, Paul Gilbert, and Steve Vai. His unmistakable solos and neoclassical style form the backbone of the band’s recognizable musical identity. 

The band’s professional credentials include studio work at renowned facilities such as Massive Arts Studios, Milan, Italy, and Fascination Street Studios, Orebro, Sweden, collaborating with industry veterans like the renowned Jens Bogren (Arch Enemy, At the Gates). Skonnie Music’s recent single “Blue Eyes and A Smile” via UMG/Sonorous Records showcases their unique artistic vision.

Currently, Skonnie Music is putting the finishing touches on their highly anticipated album “Nuraghe,” which promises to deliver original modern progressive metal compositions exploring themes of legends, ancient architecture, and epic storytelling. The album represents the culmination of their artistic partnership and their commitment to creating music that transcends traditional genre boundaries.
